Day 4 in Los Angeles was a return to natural inspiration and return to organic and natural influences. If you have missed day’s 1-3 of BlogTour LA you can click here for all of the recaps. Today I highlight our fourth day of visiting Heath Ceramics shop, Natural Curisoties design studio and our evening spent in Venice Beach visiting the Will Leather Goods shop and the other local shops.
All day I kept thinking that the overlying theme was a return back to basics. Natural influences from organic products to hand craftsmanship to eclectic ways design is all around us, even at the most simplistic levels of design. Here’s a few of the wonderful highlights from Day 4.
My favorite breakfast start – Kitchen 24
8575 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069
On the days when we met later I found this great breakfast restaurant.

Gorgeous Natural Inspiration at Heath Ceramics
Edith Heath (1911–2005) founded Heath Ceramics in 1948 after her solo pottery show at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor. She was a talented ceramicist with a great respect for craft and material, and a strong point of view on the product that her company would make — simple, good things for good people.
Natural Curiosoties – A Blending of Organic Design Disciplines
Founded by Christopher Wilcox and located on Sunset Blvd, our studio is tucked into the core of Echo Park’s historic Jensen Recreation Center, a current cultural monument originally erected in 1924.
Once a bowling alley, the space has evolved to embrace our artistic pursuits. Daily we work amongst the remnants of the past, continually drawing from our environment’s rich history.
Born from a deep love of the arts, and what art is capable of representing in culture and society life, Natural Curiosities is one of my proudest achievements. I consider it an accomplishment made possible by the love and loyalty of incredibly creative clients, both old and new, who believe in our journey and have become loyal supporters to the belief that art is not a decorative accessory, but an essential part of design and, in our case, work full of soul made by people who love what they do. I would also like to deeply thank all the members of The Octo-Caravan both past and present, for without you the wheels would never turn.
#BlogTourLA – Venice Beach – Shops, Surf and Sun!
Our last stop of the day was Venice Beach to visit quaint shops, walk on our own and end the day at a rooftop bar looking out over Venice Beach.. so awesome 🙂
